INTRODUCTION Trauma is a common and often misunderstood phenomenon, with significant implications for health professionals working with children and families (Carroll et al., 2004; Tramontina & Linklater, 2011). In this course, we will explore the basic principles of trauma and its impact on children’s development. We will explore the foundations of good assessment and intervention, including best practice guidelines in child protection.
