This course focuses on the social, political, economic and legal systems that underpin the private and public housing sector in Australia. The issues relating to tenure of social housing are examined in relation to Australian legislation and case law. The role of federal, state and local government agencies in the management of housing is also considered. The course examines current developments in Australian housing policy with a particular focus on the relationship between land use planning and policy, urban renewal, affordable rental housing, homelessness services and emergency accommodation for people
