We will examine how the ancient Near East was a dynamic, complex and diverse region, where civilizations were shaped by cultural, religious, political and economic factors. The course will cover all aspects of life in Mesopotamia, Syria-Palestine, Egypt and North Africa, as well as a number of other areas with important contributions made by these early civilizations
