This course is part of the Global Game Design & Development Major. In this course, students will learn how to create a world and apply strategies for creating diverse, believable environments for games. Students will be introduced to concepts such as game mechanics, animation, animation pipelines, character modeling and animation pipelines and animation techniques. The course culminates in a final project: a 3D environment that shows off what students have learned about world-building and creating immersive games.

The world-building for games course is designed to help students develop the skills and experiences they need to engage in the gaming industry as game developers, designers, directors, producers, or marketers. Students will learn the fundamentals of designing worlds, using history and culture to inspire game concepts, creating characters and environments for a videogame setting, and even creating games themselves.
This course is not available to students currently enrolled in GAM215.
