The focus of this course is on developing the basic skills required for writing for the stage. Topics include how to write dialogue, monologues, one-act plays, and scene studies. Students will also learn about stage conventions such as lighting, set design, props, sound effects and technology. The course will begin with a presentation of excerpts from various contemporary plays and then be followed by readings of contemporary one-act plays. The final project will require students to compose their own one-act play in

This course is designed to help you develop your skills in the practical application of writing for the stage. The primary aim of this course is to equip students with the basic knowledge, skills and techniques required by working playwrights and directors as they prepare scripts for a broad range of theatrical genres.
You will be expected to produce a script for at least one play or piece of work presented on the stage within your first year of study. You will then be expected to complete a critical review
