1. To introduce students to the issues and methods of literary analysis. This is a general overview and introductory course for graduate students in English, History, or Philosophy, as well as those who have completed ENG200 with an A- or higher. The course will cover the basic components of both fiction and non-fiction texts (including dramatic literature) through a close reading of important works in their literary context. In addition, students will develop their own critical thinking skills through the study of selected works from several
