This module provides a preliminary introduction to the development of higher education. It aims to introduce students to key debates in contemporary issues, such as: 1) how we can develop the art of teaching at higher education level; and 2) how the field of scholarship can be applied in the development of a research university. Students will also be introduced to relevant literature on student learning and educational change.

The student should be able to: 1. demonstrate the conceptual and theoretical foundations for practice with diverse cultural groups in a variety of settings. 2. apply principles of cultural competence and equity theory in the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of culturally competent service delivery systems; and 3. evaluate the effectiveness of culturally competent service delivery systems and cultural needs in relation to individuals’ health status, functioning and medical outcome. EDGR942 Course Pre-requisites
EdGR942 – Scholar-Practitioner II (EDGR942) Course is compulsory for candidates who have successfully completed EDGR941 – Scholar Practitioner I (EDGR941). 24 hours of lecture and 24 hours of tutorial per week. First Year: First Semester A study period of 40 hours to be spent on in-depth study of the course material.
