The course covers the fundamental knowledge, skills, and techniques of geometry and includes a variety of learning activities that support students’ conceptual understanding and development of spatial thinking skills. Students are introduced to various areas of geometry, including metric systems, plane figures, angle measurement, transversals, area of a triangle, the Pythagorean Theorem, circles and quadrilaterals.

Students should be able to: (1) define a general geometric object such as a line, angle, or polygon. (2) write a general equation in the form ax + by = c. (3) state the properties of each geometric object listed above. (4) understand and apply the properties of congruent triangles to construct a triangle given its side lengths and angles. (5) know the relationship between congruent triangles and similar triangles, acute triangles and right triangles.
