(K and PSYC 290) The information below is designed to help you understand how the college course DEV290 meets the requirements of the state of Texas and accreditation agencies for a Child Development/Early Childhood Education Certificate Program. These course requirements do not specify any one “time frame” for completing them. Rather, they indicate that they meet certain minimum standards, and you may be able to complete them in less than the prescribed time period, but may have completed other courses that may count toward the certificate
DEV290 Course Pre-requisites
Course Overview This course is a 6 week internships (July 19 to Aug 23, 2016) where students will assist teachers with child and family assessments, curriculum development, supporting children’s social-emotional development, and participating in school-wide events. This internship also provides opportunities for students to create resources and advocate for children with their families through the St. Louis Children’s Advocacy Center.

The internship component of the course satisfies program requirements for Internship in School Psychology. DEV290 is a 1 credit undergraduate course and is comprised of 4 classes: Intro to School Psychology, Intro to Counseling, Intro to Clinical Psychology, and Teaching Practicum. Students are placed in a school-based psychology clinic as interns who are supervised by an experienced school psychologist or counselor. The student must complete 900 hours in the school setting with a minimum of 90 hours in an actual school classroom. The internship
