Course Description This course is an introduction to the criminal justice system and the policing practices that protect it. Each student will take a position on how policing practices and policies are justified in light of the study of crime and criminal justice. The class will engage in a critical examination of official crime statistics, police agency funding, and constitutional law. Students will also be exposed to concepts from other social sciences, including sociology, criminology, political science, and economics.
