CJ140 Course Objectives
1. Understand the basic principles of communication and listening skills. 2. Demonstrate an ability to use listening and communication skills in a variety of situations. 3. Develop an understanding of legal issues associated with communication and the impact of these on the criminal justice system.
4. Identify common types of communication that occur in the criminal justice system, such as interpersonal, media, written, oral, and electronic.
5. Recognize legal and ethical issues related to communication in the criminal justice system.
CJ140 Course Pre-requisites
At least 2.0 GPA required in all CJ140 courses
At least 2.0 GPA required in all CJ140 courses 1st year applicants must have completed at least one year of high school. Students who entered an Ontario secondary school prior to January 2008 are not eligible for the Criminal Justice Certificate Program.
