The course will also cover how invasive species can be controlled and what impact they can have in the environment. Students will learn about the history of invasive species, their physical characteristics, factors that aid their establishment and spread, current management strategies for controlling them,

This course is a study of the biological aspects of invasive organisms and their potential to impact on human health, economics and the environment. The commonalities in their life cycles and mechanisms of spread will be examined, with an emphasis on invasive species that cause significant economic losses in each of these areas. Field trips to local sites are planned for this term. The course aims to:
