This course is an introduction to the study of animal behavior, and focuses on the interaction of biotic and abiotic factors that affect behavior, ranging from genes to ecosystems. The first half of the course will focus on animal growth and development; the second half will examine selection, variation, and speciation in relation to organismal performance and evolutionary dynamics. 3 credits Prerequisite(s): BIO325. Course Description: BIO325 Animal Behavior focuses on the study of animal behaviour, including cognitive processes that enable an organism to solve problems in its environment. This course will include studies of how animals learn to solve problems and how they relate their behaviour to their environment, e.g., predator-prey interactions, resource partitioning, and territoriality. The course is divided into two sections: Section A (BIO 325A) deals with animal learning and memory, individual differences in learning strategies, and the evolution
