This is an introductory course on molecular genetics with a focus on genetics of common organisms, including humans and plants. It is a blended course that combines online lectures and tutorial sessions over four weeks with assignments that are due at the end of the course for weekly graded assessments.



BIO270 Course Description

This course is designed to introduce students to the field of genetics and its applications in medicine. Topics will include: genetics, molecular biology, evolution, and population genetics. The emphasis of this course is on understanding the fundamental mechanisms of inheritance and phenotypic variation in organisms. The course will include a laboratory component (complete with experiments) that may be taken as a separate course for credit.

Note: This is an advanced standing course for BIO270 students who have received at least 15 units from other departments
