This is the course introduction for NUR2392-Multidimensional Care II (NUR2392). This is a second part of the care plan and consists of four sub-chapters: neuro, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary. It focuses on nursing interventions for patients with a multifactorial diagnosis.

Course Description for NUR2392 Multidimensional Care II (NUR2392) (3 cr. hrs.) This course focuses on the assessment and implementation of nursing care in multidimensional care units, including the role of the interdisciplinary team in multiday admission and discharge, management of critically ill patients, and patient education. Prerequisite: Admission to nurse practitioner program.
This course fulfills at least 40 graduate credit hours in nursing.

Prerequisite: Admission to nurse practitioner program.

NUR3600 Course Description for NUR3600-Nurse Practitioner Internship II (NUR3600) Course Description for NUR3600-Nurse Practitioner Internship II (NUR3600) (1 cr. hr.) The Nurse Practitioner Internship is a three-phase process that consists of a three-month clinical placement where candidates complete required case notes, practice and theory evaluations for evidence-based practice as well as a summative evaluation after an additional three months clinical placement. The first three months are supervised by an experienced nurse practitioner and include case documentation, evaluation of case histories, interprofessional learning experiences, delegation skills development, student teaching/observation under direct supervision using clinical assessment tools such as triage protocols, admission coding systems and other valid research tools used to assess acute medical needs. At completion of the internship all students must have completed a minimum number of 150 practice hours within their specified time period or be eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam at which point they will be granted full status as a registered nurse with unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner.
The remaining two months clinical experience are structured to incorporate core competency based rotations in either Psychiatric or Adult Medical/Surgical nursing that focus on developing an understanding of critical thinking processes along with case documentation skills necessary to manage adult medical/surgical patients within their assigned specialty area.
Clinical requirements must be completed within one year from registration date or application processing date if not scheduled during consecutive registration periods.

Internship Evaluation:
Candidates will complete a minimum of four clinical evaluations per year totaling approximately 12 evaluations; each evaluation will consist of observation of provider behavior as demonstrated through key assessment data such as vital signs; physical examination; lab results; vital signs; discharge summaries; progress notes; communication patterns; teamwork skills; inter-professional collaboration skills. Clinical supervisors will provide feedback regarding individual candidate performance each quarter via phone calls or email correspondence outlining areas needing improvement so that candidates can reflect upon their work performance during clinical assignments.
Candidates may be required to complete additional evaluations depending on specific area(s) needing improvement i.e., safety issues etc.. Candidates who demonstrate consistent performance over several quarters may be invited into the final phase which includes writing your final project paper after completing an additional three months clinical experience following graduation from University Programs – Nursing Program Requirements . Note: A grade point average must be maintained throughout both phases no less than 3.50 / A – Standard Nursing Program Graduation Requirements / B – Advanced Nursing Program Graduation Requirements .
Note: Students who do not pass ALL certification exams provided by schools they choose will need additional time at faculty’s discretion to complete fieldwork requirements so do not drop any required fieldwork courses until you have successfully passed all certification exams .

Course Description: This course introduces students to concepts related to sexual assault awareness education. The use of simulation exercises in conjunction with written material provides an opportunity for further exploration into these concepts.
NUR2414 Course Pre-requisites for NUR2414-Multidimensional Care IV (NUR2414) course must have completed NUR2408; A& P I, II & III courses; A& P IV & V courses; PDMPSC1812-13-14 Drug Policies & Procedures; and PDMPSC1801-02-03 Introduction To Pharmacology within their nursing pre-registration curriculum. Duration This practicum will be on an as needed basis during each term throughout each academic year.

Course Description: This course introduces students with increasing levels of responsibility in advanced practice positions within their multidisciplinary health care team using standardized clinical assessment tools. Topics include physical assessment techniques, safety precautions while providing individualized care, documentation guidelines as it relates to interdisciplinary practice, identifying interprofessional relationships including legalities related to multidisciplinary teams, communication processes within an interprofessional health care team setting, ethical issues when providing multidisciplinary integrated patient care, and risk management strategies when providing multidisciplinary integrated patient care outside an institution setting including self-care practices specific across various patient populations that reflect best practices from health professions disciplines across Canada as well as internationally.
NUTR2610 Course Pre-requisites for NUTR2610-Family Nutrition II(ANTH2202), ANT2509-Chemistry I(ANTH2321), BIO2021-General Biology II(ANTH2385), BIO2034-Virology(ANTH2404), PHAR2016-Human Pharmacology(IHP2000) are recommended prior but not required before taking this elective. Students enrolled in all other pre-nursing programs are encouraged but not required to take this elective prior to participating in the Nursing Practicum II Module which runs concurrently with this elective during each academic term beginning September 2017 – June 2018. Examination of theories and models in care planning and multidimensional assessment that enable an individualized plan for care. Key issues include the use of family systems theory and healthy coping strategies. The course emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach to caring for patients with chronic disease or disability. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice and cost-effective solutions.
