is a web-based course in the Social Sciences taught by Robert Meyer. This course is designed for those who wish to integrate documentary film making with other social science methods and perspectives. No prior video experience is required. The focus of this course is on making short documentaries (3-5 minutes) using professional equipment and shooting techniques, including editing, sound mixing, and post-production; however, classroom instruction will also address writing skills and visual literacy.

This course introduces students to the principles of documentary video production, including the production and post-production of short-form film. Students will study traditional documentary techniques and learn advanced editing techniques, including real-time effects such as freeze frames, time-lapse photography, motion graphics, and audio editing. Students will create their own videos using the latest non-linear video editing software in Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
