1 COURSE DESCRIPTION 1.1 COURSE PURPOSE The purpose of this course is to enhance the students’ knowledge and understanding of multidimensional care, as well as the implementation of this theory into practice, within nursing. Students will develop and apply knowledge and skills related to nursing practice while considering diverse aspects of multidimensional care with a focus on individual client needs. This course also considers how holistic care relates to different health conditions and illness, disabilities, culture and religious beliefs. 1.2 OBJECTIVES Students will be able to: 1) demonstrate an understanding of multidimensional care as a theoretical framework; 2) demonstrate their competence in multidimensional care by applying it through multiple dimensions; 3) explain ethical principles, professional values and legal aspects when working with multidimensional care; 4) describe learning opportunities to work effectively with clients who have multiple health conditions or disabilities; 5) describe learning opportunities to implement mental health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation programs; 6) describe the different levels of nursing interventions used in the multidisciplinary team setting for individuals whose mental disorders impair their ability to function adequately in daily life activities. The aim is that learners have attained fundamental knowledge about the theory, found good practice examples from various disciplines and can apply these ideas into practice.
