Questions   =======================================================

  1. Identify three strategic purchasing measure indicators (See Exhibit 19.1) for the Smart Logistics Initiative and explain why you believe they would be important for AGCO.
  2. Develop a balanced scorecard for purchasing and supply at AGCO (See pages 774-775 of the textbook). Explain how a balanced scorecard will be necessary for the successful implementation of the Smart Logistics Initiative.
  3. How would you establish a benchmarking system of Sustainability measures for new and existing suppliers of AGCO?
  4. How can AI be used to manage supply chain disruptions in the future?
  5. Please provide an insightful question about AI and the assessment of suppliers in the future.

answer to this too:

This is the first discussion:

  1. dentify three strategic purchasing measure indicators (See Exhibit 19.1) for the Smart Logistics Initiative and explain why you believe they would be important for AGCO.

The Smart Logistics Initiative was termed as AGCO’s software partner, 4flow. It’s a provider of apps for optimizing logistics and supply-chain management. AGCO’s goal was to create a globally intergraded network for all inbound transportation and efficient B2B information exchange with suppliers. With this in mind, my three strategic purchasing measure indicators are the following:

Time/delivery/responsiveness: This is about which suppliers are able to meet customer schedule requirements which include due dates, delivery windows, and leeway on due dates. This is essential for AGCO’s goal of intergraded network for all inbound transportation.

Technology and Innovation: The new innovation measure is important for AGCO’s software partner, 4flow. It determines the number of product/service innovations obtained from suppliers.

Asset and integrated supply chain management: This includes transportation cost reduction, inventory, e-transactions, and supplier-managed inventory which all is part of the model SCOR that measures supply chain performance and processes.

  1. Develop a balanced scorecard for purchasing and supply at AGCO (See pages 774-775 of the textbook). Explain how a balanced scorecard will be necessary for the successful implementation of the Smart Logistics Initiative.

A balanced scorecard will be necessary for the successful implementation of the Smart Logistics initiative because it keeps the supplier at an expected standard of performance, and it shows the company how they are doing when analyzing their scorecard.

  1. How would you establish a benchmarking system of Sustainability measures for new and existing suppliers of AGCO?

Benchmarking includes the continuous measuring of practices against a firm’s best competitors so I would add a sustainability measure in the suppliers’ scorecards to make sure they are meeting our sustainability standard and have a competitive advantage in sustainability.

  1. How can AI be used to manage supply chain disruptions in the future?

AI can be used to help businesses prepare for the next crisis by learning from the pandemic. AI can help businesses anticipate shortages and supply issues ahead of time and then respond with resiliency strategies.

  1. Please provide an insightful question about AI and the assessment of suppliers in the future.

How would you assess suppliers’ AI? Whether that would be through an indicator on their scorecard, or a clause in the contract

The second one:

1. The three strategic purchasing measure indicators should include price performance, technology and innovation, and quality for AGCO. I believe price performance measure is crucial because it deals with spending dollars so that a manager can make the most effective decision for spending. Technology and innovation are essential for obtaining innovative products and services. Quality is another critical measure because managers need to ensure that their suppliers provide the best quality from manufacturing to delivering.

2. The balanced scorecard at AGCO should include quality, cost management, and logistic & material management as these impact the performance and revenue of the company. In addition, a balanced scorecard is necessary for the successful implementation of the Smart Logistics Initiative because it is a strategic planning and management system that organizations use to focus on strategy and improve performance.

3. I would establish a benchmarking system of Sustainability measures for new and existing suppliers of AGCO by tracking the achievement of environmental goals of these suppliers. Tracking can help managers see if the suppliers meet the company regulatory goals and help make procurement decisions.

4. In the future, AI could help supply chain disruptions by allocating resources, assigning people, and scheduling processes. Machine learning capabilities apply algorithms to massive operational data feeds to discover insights to track and predict supply chain disruptions, providing new levels of visibility into day-to-day operations.

5. What is the biggest challenge of using AI in supply chain management?
