Q A. According to the text, requirements collection, definition, and
visualization are the three most critical steps in the development of
the database system or data warehouse. All the steps are critical in the
development of a database system. However, select one of the three
processes that you think is the most critical in the development of a
database system. Describe the implementation and explain why you think
its’ the most critical.
Comment on his/her choice, add any supporting information where you feel appropriate.

When developing a database system or
data warehouse, requirements collection, definition, and visualization
are key steps to making it a success. While you need all three steps to
develop a database system, the most critical is the collection. Data can
be collected in various ways through multiple user-facing systems. Data
collection is the most critical step because it allows a business or
company to have “the quality information they need to make informed
decisions from further analysis, study, and research” (Import.io, 2018).
If there are issues with the data collection, then users will not be
able to access the information needed to complete their tasks.
Corruption of the data collection step can cause businesses to lose key
information needed for analysis and decision making.

- Describe the organization.
- Why do you think it’s a good fit for the course?
- What issues do you see as far as using it for the course is concerned?
- What will be your “connect” to the organization? How will you get the information required for the case studies in the course?
1.The organization that I plan on using for the course is Beebe
Healthcare located in Lewes Delaware. Beebe Healthcare is a
not-for-profit community healthcare system and the largest employer in
Sussex County. Beebe’s mission is to encourage healthy living, prevent
illness, and restore optimal health with the people that reside, work,
or visit the communities they serve (Beebe, 2020).
The organization should be a great fit for the course as it uses the
Information Systems Strategy Triangle. By using this strategy, Beebe is
able to ensure that all branches of the organization are aligned and
working together to reach the same goals. The alignment is reviewed on a
regular bases and if need be, a code HICS (Hospital Incident Command
System) is activated to rapidly implement emergency changes due to
unforeseen circumstances. For example, COVID-19 and the possibility of
an in-house patient surge.
In using Beebe Healthcare as the organization for this course, I have
to ensure that I do not include any patient health information (PHI)
that would cause a HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act) violation.
My connection to the organization is through employment. I currently
work for Beebe Healthcare as a systems analyst and oversee several
software systems used throughout the hospital. I also have a great
working relationship with my departmental coworkers and can request
their assistance if needed to gather information from the systems they
support.
Best regards
James

I plan to use the Organization Choptank Community Health System, Inc. (CCHS) for this course.
CCHS is a not for profit community health system located on the
eastern shore of Maryland. CCHS’ mission To provide access to
exceptional, comprehensive and integrated health care for all. Their
vision is To improve the health and well-being of the communities we
serve; to provide an outstanding care experience; and to be an
exceptional place to work and make a difference. It started out as
Caroline Health Services, Inc. in 1980, but as it expanded into other
counties it changed its name to Choptank Community Health System, Inc.
They now have 6 locations that provide medical and dental care for the
community.
I believe CCHS will be a great fit for this course as it meets the
desired criteria for Information Systems Strategy Triangle. With many
different levels of business functionality from care providers, to
maintenance, business operations the technology infrastructure and
information systems are a key role in its success.
Some issues I believe I may run into is that I may not be privy to
some of the business decisions and logic of why the company moves
forward with certain technologies, workflows and processes.
The connection to the organization is through my employment with CCHS
as the IT Director. I am in a Director role at CCHS for the last 6
years and have influenced a lot of the strategic plans for technology,
but we also report up to a board of directors who make the end decision.
I report up to a many of the C-Suite level staff who I also have a
rapport that could help give me the insight on the items I do not know
myself.
Depending on the information needed for the case studies, I have
access to majority information through meetings and or coworkers.
Please let me know what you guys think of my plan, I would love to hear what you have to add and better help my overall plan.
