This course is designed to give advanced students an opportunity to study major problems in the microbial sciences. Topics include microbiology and biochemistry of microorganisms, global biogeochemical cycles, microbial cell biology, evolution and ecology of microbial communities, molecular methods for studying microbes, and microbial interactions with plants.
