The paper should be 1000 words, 12-pt New Times Roman, 1.5 spacing.

Mid Term Paper: Choose one leading statement from either week 2, week 3, week 4or week 5that you have found inspiring. Choose one of the discussion sessions’ options from the same week (ideally the one you worked on with your peers in the breakout rooms). Write a 1000 words commentary (Times New Roman, 12, 1,5 space) putting in relation the statement with the evidence gathered from your response to the discussion option. Use at least 3 concepts that you have learnt so far in the course (from whatever week) to sustain your commentary. Reference the readings and materials you have used.

These are some questionsand tipsthat can guide you in your commentary: Do you find the statement to be true/false? Why? What mightbe some of the problems of the statement, if any? What does the author say exactly in the text? How does your example corroborate/refute the statement?Build on your responses to the leading questions of that week to elaborate your commentary making sure you respond to them and use your empirical example. This is anexampleof how your papermight go: My selected statement isfrom week 3 and it reads: “All meanings are produced within history and culture” (Hall 1997:32). I found this statement interesting because X and Y (elaborate). In this paper, I am building on thediscussion option that I worked on for that week to show how this statement holds true. I worked on Option C. “Find brands that claim “to be natural:” what are the discursive elements that link natural with health? Think about specific ways in which naturalproducts are considered healthier (for whom and how, who is excluded, what are the consequences of this exclusion?)” And I worked on a particular Body Shop Ad(describe here). I chose to work on this brand because X and Y (elaborate). I think the statement holds true because I have been able to gather how the Body Shop language/visual images used to promote their natural products are historically produced& relevant only to particular audiences within our society (white women, middle class) for whom thecompany’sways of being natural is meaningful because(elaborate making connections to readings).Besides, I can build on the concept of “individual acts of communication” and on the notion of the “arbitrary notion of the sign” to elaborate further on why the statement holds true (elaborate herehow and why connecting to readings). Also, I find that the idea of “binary oppositions” help me nicely in articulating why the Body Shop message is historically produced and its meaning culturally specific. This is because the natural/nonnatural opposition…. (elaborate here) ….”
