*Full Description

We currently have a process for patrons to pick up their reserves in the lobby without having to contact staff or enter the library beyond that point. I would like to examine this process for potential flaws and expand the service to include an exterior pick-up point. How can we engage the community to start using this service? How can we most effectively communicate how to use this service to our patrons? I would like a recommendation on what this would require in terms of cost and staff/volunteer training. An issue with the service that has recently occurred is that MeL ILL service has restarted and we will have a much larger turnover of material. We are currently keeping the MeL material separate from our items because it needs to be checked out to the patron, when it is checked out, it starts their loan period. We have been checking out our reserve material to our patrons and placing it on the shelf in the lobby under their last name. I would like a more secure way to easily allow patrons to pick up their material without having to come upstairs to check it out. The issue that checking out the material first triggers, is that if someone doesn’t pick up their reserve in a timely fashion, it is running out the clock on their loan period.
