Surveying technicians are employed in numerous areas including civil engineering, construction, land surveying, forestry, recreation and utility companies. This course provides students with an understanding of how to use basic technology and measurement equipment to collect information on a specific area or object. CSM280 Course Overview The Surveying discipline is one of the key disciplines in planning and managing a civil engineering project. This course will examine the surveying process through reading, interpretation, and evaluation of topographic maps; computations; and computer-aided design techniques used for surveying and mapping. The technical applications of geomatics are also introduced to help students understand how they can contribute to future land use planning.
