After you complete the reading, start to explore your selected Discourse Community closely and answer the following questions:

  1. What Discourse Community will you explore, and how would you categorize the community connection (residential, social, hobby, academic, professional, social justice . . . )?
  2. What are the explicitly shared goals, values, or interests of the DC, and how does one become accepted as a member of this DC?
  3. What digital or print resources did you locate?.
  4. Where does the group’s primary communication occur, and how is intercommunication within the membership facilitated?
  5. Where (physical or digital) do members of the DC frequent or inhabit, how do members communicate and participate, How often do they interact, and which technologies do they employ?
  6. Who is allowed to speak and participate, and who is not allowed or encouraged (within the group)?
